A RainScape is a landscape or design technique that helps slow and clean stormwater runoff from individual properties, called Low Impact Development (LID).
The RainScapes program promotes and implements projects which help to retain stormwater runoff on site and improve water quality on individual properties within the “Area of Special Biological Significance” (ASBS) Watershed. The City of Pacific Grove is offering technical and financial assistance (in the form of RainScapes Rebate Program) to encourage property owners to implement eligible RainScapes Techniques on their property.
There are six LID Techniques available, see list below. The RainScapes Rebate Design Guidelines documents contain more detailed information about each LID Technique.
1. Roof Downspout Redirection
2. Creating Rain Gardens
3. Rainwater Harvesting
4. Replacement of Impervious Surfaces with Pervious Surfaces
